This course aims to raise teachers’ awareness and preparedness when dealing with severe emotional and/or behavior problems with adult learners. Crisis intervention and helping relation techniques will be explored and premeditated in order for educators to feel confident when assisting students displaying signs of low self-esteem, depressive moods, grieving, suicide and/ or self-injurious behaviors.

The course objectives are to provide educators with professional intervention strategies, counseling psychology models, and current research related to students’ personal problems, which may be considered a crisis situation.
